The primary responsibility of a Busser is to serve guests by setting tables with clean linens and silverware, and removing soiled dishes, glassware and silverware from tables. Secondary responsibilities include proper maintenance and cleaning of side stations, floors, furniture, and restrooms. Although the Busser is typically assigned to assist the food server, you may also be assigned to the bar as a Barback or asked to perform the duties of a Runner.

Bussers clean tables, taking plates, utensils, and drinkware to the kitchen to be washed, make sure diners' water glasses are full, and reset tables for the next service. Bussers might help waiters and waitresses bring food out to a table, restock utensils, napkins, and other dining room needs.
